A Quick Description

The Team
The Name Vallejo Barbarians was chosen to reflect that the team is made up of individuals of diverse backgrounds and cultures who roam around looking for someone to beat the hell out of.

Our first year the barbarians were ragged. We began with four dedicated players on a small green at the Vallejo water front. We gradually grew gathered like minded players and began our first Northern California Rugby Football Union Division III season. We won two league matches and lost four. We learned to work together for a common goal.

Our second year started in again in September preparing for the Reno Tournament. We played in the competitive division and showed the other teams we were for real. We played Division I and II teams. We did not win any matches. But we were not overwhelmed either. We went on to come in second in the Baracus tournament in late October. We entered a rental agreement with Lennar Mare Island to rent an manage Morton Field on Mare Island. We had our own dirt on which to play. We opened our league season with four wins. We lost focus and lost four in a row. We regained our game beating Chico, Aptos and Humbolt to play in the final four of the play offs.

This season we again have Morton Field as our base. It is becoming the best rugby pitch in Northern California. We have moved to NCRF Division II. We are attracting returning and new players. The Barbarians are now a force to be reckoned with. Our schedule of match is being planned. The boys want to go up to Reno again and to go to the Baracus Tournament. We are planning our own tournament schedule for November 28, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Come join us as roam Northern California looking for Rugby Matches.
